What gets removed
- EXIF fields — camera, GPS, date/time, software
- IPTC fields — byline, copyright, caption
- XMP fields — creator, rights, editing tool
- C2PA "Content Credentials" manifest, if present — common in AI-generated images from tools like ChatGPT or Gemini, removed as part of the same full strip, not selectively

What metadata removal does not do
- Does not change the visual content of the photo
- Faces, signs, landmarks and other identifying details visible in the image remain exactly as they were
- Only affects embedded data — not the pixels
- Does not guarantee full anonymity on its own
