What metadata does a JPEG file contain?
A typical camera or phone JPEG includes EXIF data (camera settings, capture date, sometimes GPS), and may also include IPTC fields (caption, byline, copyright) if added by editing software, and XMP metadata used by tools like Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop.
Reading JPEG metadata
Our viewer reads EXIF data using PHP's built-in EXIF support, IPTC fields embedded in the JPEG APP13 segment, and a conservative scan for an embedded XMP packet.
Removing metadata from JPEG
Metadata removal strips the fields that were detected and produces a cleaned copy for download, with an explicit before/after summary.
