C2PA Checker
A free tool to check and verify an image's Content Credentials (C2PA) — the signed record some tools attach to a file, stating who or what created it and, sometimes, whether it was AI-generated. Upload a photo to verify authenticity and see exactly what its manifest declares.

What this tool does
Reads the file's embedded C2PA manifest, if one exists, and shows what it declares: the generating tool, an author name if stated, and the IPTC "digital source type" — the field that indicates algorithmic or AI generation when present.
What this tool does not do
It does not verify the cryptographic signature or confirm the manifest hasn't been tampered with — that requires dedicated C2PA validation tooling, not just reading the embedded data. Treat results as what the file claims about itself, not an independently verified fact. For genuine signature validation, use the official Content Credentials verifier, run by the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) itself.
Why we don't offer to remove it here
A C2PA manifest is provenance information, not a privacy risk like GPS location — removing it isn't something we want to make a single click. If you use our metadata remover on this file for other reasons, note that it performs a full strip and will remove this manifest too, not selectively.
C2PA checker vs. AI image detector
These solve different problems, and it's worth being precise about which one this is. An AI image detector analyzes the pixels themselves — a trained classifier estimates the probability an image was AI-generated, and can flag images even with no embedded data at all. This tool does not do that. A C2PA checker — what this page is — only reads a signed manifest the generating tool voluntarily attached to the file. If that manifest is absent (often, since many platforms strip it), we genuinely have nothing to tell you either way. Read more about what C2PA is and which tools support it.
